When God Speaks

Good Monday, and a Happy Memorial Day. May we never forget the sacrifices our men and women in the armed forces have made for our freedom.

Back in the studio this week. I always enjoy the studio work. I have no idea where this cartoon journey might nor how it will end but it is a great adventure. I just know my job has been to pursue. It is not like I just woke up one day with the skills. I have spent a great amount of time developing these skills. That is why when I taught art I taught it as a developed skill rather than a God given talent; your either born with or not, as "Western Aesthetics" leads you to believe.

My lifetime assignment to pursue came a long time ago after I lost a lot of money on my first run of the calendar business. I was seeking guidance while in prayer, the voice of God simply said to me, "Yours is not to question yours is to pursue." To this day I remember it like it just happened. I cannot explain nor justify it, it happened. As much as I have sought that voice and plain guidance since, I have never had God speak to me again. So pursue I do.

Last week was a reminder of how fragile and how little time we actually have on this earth. So when your assigned to pursue, you pursue.

Ok, back from the coffee pot? Good deal, me too. I was going to talk a little about the cartoon but got somewhat side tracked. This cartoon was my wife's idea. I seek her input all the time. She has a great sense of humor and does a great job on giving me feedback on my work and giving me cartoon concepts. My cartoons also have details about myself and my family. For example, my wife is from St. Louis so the Blues Logo on her shirt. I attended South Plains College in big Levelland, Texas, so I have a SPC logo on my cap. I wore bib overalls while working offshore in the Gulf of Mexico back in the 70's-90's. We wore then because they were easy to take off while in the water and they made great flotation devices. This was the era before the FRC's were a big push in the petroleum industry.

Ugh, my coffee is not working, so guess I will take a nap. I wish all Mondays were a holiday, but then again Tuesday would be like Monday except with twice the paperwork. Gives me a headache thinking about it. If you have any comments or questions please drop me a line, meanwhile enjoy the holiday nap and extra coffee.

May your boots be dry your coffee fresh and your gloves new for all else we can overcome, Amen.
