"Defund the Police", How is that working for your community? Blue 2022.

Good Monday Morning. Had a good week besides my back starting to act up again. Went to my nephew's wedding in Lubbock on Saturday and had a great time. Another sign your getting old is when you cannot understand one thing the announcer/dj is saying.

The Blue 2022 Law Enforcement Calendars are ready. I support all members of all Law Enforcement teams. The move to defund police departments is the stupidest movement/concept I have ever heard on any level. The communities that are doing this are finding out quickly how asinine this policy is. Every community I have read about that is promoting and adopting the defund the police is having drastic increases in crime. Therefore these communities may as well buy advertising that states, "we welcome all criminals and all crimes, so please come to our community to commit your crimes." Give these idiotic policies time and watch as the residences leave these crime free zones as quickly as they can. To all the Law Enforcement Officers whom continue to do the job and lay it on the line every day you walk out that door I salute you. Thank you for what you do.

To the communities that want to send in unarmed mental health experts rather than armed police officers, I say take the time to talk to mental health experts before you go with this concept. Any mental health expert that has had to deal with individuals in a crisis will tell you that there is no way to predict nor know when the crisis situation will go south. I do not care how good you claim to be when you arrive in a crisis and go into your de-escalation mode you have no idea on how the situation will turn out and have no idea how quickly it can turn into violence. I worked 4 years in a behavior modification school and dealt with mental health issues on a daily basis. I know how a mental health crisis can turn south in a heart beat. At my school there was a reason all students were searched and metal detected before entering the campus. I cannot image what it will be like to arrive on the scene of a crisis and not know the situation, the individual and to what weapons they have access to.

All my Blue cartoons are created to show support for Law Enforcement. The 2022 Blue Calendar is dedicated to you, the Law Enforcement Officers whom provide safety and security so when I lay down at night I know me and my neighborhood is safe. I hope police unions and law enforcement agencies will allow me to provide them calendars, posters and tee shirts with my cartoons demonstrating their support for their people. I invite you to contact me to discuss what I can do for you and your organization. I will gladly answer any and all questions.

Most of my cartoons are based on my work in the individual blue collar jobs. However, I am the first to admit I have never been a police officer and never walked in your shoes. I do know without a shadow of a doubt, if is not for you walking in your shoes I would never had the opportunity to walk mine. For that I thank you and my thoughts and prayers are always with you. My prayer is always simple. May God give you the strength and wisdom to do your job the best that you can and he blesses you to come home to your family after every shift, Amen. If you have any police prayers I would like to hear them.

Thanks, be safe. Steve.
